A criminal case has been opened in Blagoveshchensk (Amur Region) against a businesswoman who organized a private kindergarten. She is suspected of embezzlement, according to the regional Investigative Committee of Russia.

According to the investigation, in 2024, the city department of education concluded an agreement with the director of a private kindergarten to provide a grant from the budget of the Amur region. The funds were supposed to be used to create additional places for children from one and a half to three years old.

The grant amount was about 3 million rubles, but some of it was used for other purposes. According to the Investigative Committee, the woman spent 300 thousand rubles from the amount provided to pay for services and goods not related to the activities of the kindergarten.

A criminal case has been opened against a local resident under Part 3 of Article 160 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Embezzlement, that is, theft of someone else's property entrusted to the perpetrator on a large scale"). According to PriamurMedia news agency, the entrepreneur received a grant in the form of a subsidy within the framework of the regional program "Development of preschool, general and additional education for children" of the national project "Demography".
