The dog handler listed plants dangerous for dogs

Vladimir Golubev, President of the Russian Cynological Federation, told us which plants pose a danger to dogs.

In an interview with Radio 1 on Friday, May 30, the specialist urged dog owners to observe the golden mean during the summer season: not to forbid the dog to sniff objects on the street, but to protect the pet from dangerous places, exclude the possibility of picking up anything.

"To do this, the dog must know the commands "Fu" or "No", with which a person can control the situation and forbid the animal to pick up garbage and taste flowers," explained Golubev.

He warned that bulbous flowers are dangerous for dogs: tulips, hyacinths, daffodils. Ingestion of an onion is fraught with poisoning. Irises are also dangerous, especially their rhizome, lilies of the valley are a completely poisonous plant. Even the water in which the plants stood is dangerous.

It is also worth protecting the dog from contact with crocuses, azaleas, bluebells, lupines, buttercups, poppies, primroses, rhododendrons, cyclamen. Lilies, peonies, chrysanthemums, hydrangeas and lilacs can be harmful.

Separately, the specialist emphasized the danger of hare barley. Because of it, the dog should not be allowed to walk in the thicket, where this plant may be. Its seeds can cling to wool, get into the nose, eyes or ears. Their entire surface is covered with very small spikes, which, digging into the tissues, lead to inflammation. It may even require surgery if it gets under the skin.

The expert classified asters, marigolds, cornflowers, calendula, camellias, dandelions, sunflowers, and roses as safe plants, but this does not mean that the animal should be allowed to eat them. In principle, plants are not required for the dog's diet. It is better to treat your pet with carrots, apple slices, bell peppers, zucchini, you can give some strawberries.
