The Russian Football Union (RFU) has not issued a license to the Khimki football club near Moscow to participate in the Russian Premier League (RPL) in the 2025/26 season due to overdue accounts payable and lack of guarantees of regular financing. Maxim Mitrofanov, Secretary General of the RFU, told about this on May 30.

"If we compare the discussion that took place with Krylia Sovetov and Khimki on financial issues, then the difference was in two important aspects. The first one concerned the fact that Khimki had overdue accounts payable <...> close to 50% of the budget for the season," Mitrofanov told reporters.

According to him, Khimki did not show the dynamics of repayment of the club's debts, and the second aspect of the problem was the lack of guarantees of financing for the next season.

Khimki also did not have time to apply for participation in the first league, and can only apply for the second until mid-June, adds Sport-Express.

On May 27, it became known that FC Khimki filed an appeal against the decision of the RFU commission not to grant it a license to participate in the RPL in the 2025/26 season. According to Dmitry Brekhov, General Director of FC Khimki, the team hopes to reach a fair decision on time.
