French President Emmanuel Macron has proposed that Asian countries form a coalition with Europe. He made the corresponding statement on May 30 during the Shangri-La Dialogue security conference in Singapore, which was broadcast on the CNBC-TV18 YouTube channel.

According to the French leader, such a coalition could become the "third largest economy in terms of growth." There are many "reliable players in the region, some of whom have the potential to deter," he notes. Macron called on India and Asian countries to work closely with Europe in the field of security and defense.

"We want to go further, especially with India, Asian countries, as well as members of the Trans-Pacific Partnership. If we unite, we will account for a third of global growth, and even more in terms of trade," the French president said.

On May 22, Macron announced that France and China were in favor of an immediate cease-fire in Ukraine. In turn, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that after reports of French serving in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), it is hard to believe in the words of the French president.
