An elderly married couple in Moscow handed over 15.6 million rubles to fraudsters within a month. This was announced on May 30 by a source of Izvestia.

"From March to May, unknown people repeatedly called the pensioners: they introduced themselves as employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the FSB, the Central Bank and Rosfinmonitoring," the source said.

Under the pretext of saving money, the scammers convinced a 68-year-old man and a 62-year-old woman to give them cash. The couple gave money to the courier at home five times from April 17 to May 23.

As a result, the pensioner lost 6.5 million rubles, his wife — 9.1 million. A criminal case has been opened under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fraud on an especially large scale").

The day before, it was reported that in Moscow, a pensioner lost more than 11 million rubles after a telephone conversation with fraudsters. The attackers convinced her to withdraw about 8 million rubles from her accounts. The woman also accused the attackers of illegally debiting more than 3.2 million rubles from her bank cards.
