There have been 319 road accidents in Russia over the past 24 hours.

Over the past day, 319 road accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 24 people were killed and 364 injured. 22 of the dead were passengers and drivers of vehicles. This was reported to Izvestia on May 30 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
As a result of 74 accidents, 29 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 45 outside their area of operation, two pedestrians were killed, and 73 more were injured in various degrees of severity. 36 underage pedestrians were among the injured, 21 of them were injured when crossing the roadway in unintended places.
17 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which two people were killed, and another 21 road users needed medical attention. Nine bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by their drivers.
83 accidents involving minors were registered, as a result of which 86 young road users were injured, including 22 passengers, 14 cyclists and nine motor transport drivers under the age of 16. One child, a cyclist, was killed.
So, in one of the rural settlements of Bashkiria, during the daytime, a 55-year-old car driver ran over a 12-year-old cyclist who was moving along the right edge of the roadway in the same direction as him and suddenly pulled out in front of the car. After the collision, the car left the road to the left in the course of traffic and crashed into the mast of the power line. As a result of the accident, a young cyclist was killed, and a passenger in the car was hospitalized with injuries.
On the eve of the weekend and the start of long school holidays, the State Traffic Inspectorate drew the attention of parents to the need to ensure the maximum safety of their children in the summer, a period when schoolchildren who are resting from classes spend a lot of free time outside, and, as a result, more often get into car accidents. The lack of control over the behavior and leisure of children, especially in the evening, often leads to injuries or even death of young road users, the department said.
The State Traffic Inspectorate called for an explanatory conversation with children about the rules of safe cycling, paying special attention to the need to dismount when crossing the roadway at a pedestrian crossing. It is necessary to regularly tell them about the rules of the road, the dangers of entering the roadway and the need to follow the rules of safe behavior, especially when crossing the road. It should be emphasized that access to public roads for cyclists is allowed only when they reach the age of 14.
"We urge parents to strictly monitor and prevent, rather than encourage, attempts by children and adolescents without experience, confident driving skills and solid knowledge of traffic rules to use bicycles, scooters and personal mobility aids, and even more so to ride them on public roads. We also draw the attention of drivers to the strict observance of the rules for transporting children in the car. Do not make dangerous maneuvers, choose the speed limit depending on the time of day, the condition of the roadway and weather conditions," Police Colonel Anton Belan, deputy head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of child traffic injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, told Izvestia.
In addition, the State Traffic Inspectorate urged motorists to abandon risky driving, exceeding the speed limit, sudden changes of lanes, overtaking and other dangerous maneuvers. Drivers were advised to reserve time in order to have time to adequately respond to a possible change in the traffic situation at any moment.
The day before, it was reported that the Ministry of Transport published a draft amendment to the rules of the road, explaining the duties of drivers when approaching vehicles with special signals turned on. In the same document, the Ministry proposed introducing the concept of a "child restraint system (device)" into the traffic regulations and defining what exactly applies to these systems.
