Starting from June 1, 2025, the fare for the Moscow High-speed Diameter has been indexed, the metropolitan Transportation Department reported.

Now the fare for each section will be 7 rubles during the critically busy hours on weekdays: from 7:00 to 11:00 and from 16:00 to 20:00. At the same time, 70% of the time on weekdays (16 out of 24 hours), as well as at any time on weekends and holidays, travel remains free.

The current rules remain in force: travel on a specific section of the highway is considered paid only if the car entered and left the site during the paid time. For vehicles of operational services and mail, municipal equipment, urban transport, school buses, as well as for taxis licensed in Moscow and the Moscow region, travel along the MSD is always free.

According to Andrey Borisov, a leading expert at the HSE Institute of Transport Economics, changing tariffs on toll roads is a common practice aimed at optimizing traffic flows. Indexing the fare "may encourage some drivers to choose less congested alternative routes," he noted. This, in turn, "will reduce the peak load on the MSD, improve the capacity of the highway and reduce travel time for those who continue to travel along this highway," Borisov added.

The representative of the Higher School of Economics also pointed out that in a megalopolis with a developed and complex transport network, such measures serve as "an effective tool for regulating traffic and helping to balance the load between the main transport arteries."
