Western generals are delighted with the speed with which Russian troops are being trained in Ukraine. This opinion was expressed on May 30 by Bloomberg columnist Mark Champion.

It is noted that the journalist met with a group of generals from about 20 countries who discussed in London the re-establishment of army corps as the main organizational unit for conducting military operations. This issue was discussed against the background of an alleged threat from Russia.

"Over and over again, I've heard something similar to admiration for the speed with which Russian troops are training and adapting in Ukraine," the Champion wrote.

According to him, the production of weapons and ammunition in Russia has increased dramatically since the start of the special military operation.

"Familiarization with advanced Western weapons — for example, [American MLRS] HIMARS — gave the Russians time to figure out how to neutralize it. <...> The Russian air force, created to fight NATO, is modern and has been preserved in its original form," the observer added.

The champion stressed that Russia is ahead of NATO countries in the field of drones and electronic warfare (EW).

At the same time, the observer singled out the Russian Iskander missile system separately, as it "has become difficult to intercept even American Patriot batteries, and it is used to destroy everything from HIMARS launchers to Ukrainian command posts."

On May 28, Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, said that since the beginning of the year, almost 175 thousand military personnel had arrived in military units, and over 14 thousand people had been accepted into volunteer units. According to him, in mid-May, Russian President Vladimir Putin assessed the attitude of citizens who are ready to defend the state.

On the same day, Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov announced that the Russian Armed Forces (AF) were successfully conducting offensive operations in almost all sectors of the front.
