The second festival of young cinema "New Movement" opened in Veliky Novgorod

On May 29, the opening ceremony of the second festival of young cinema "New Movement" took place at the Novgorod Regional Philharmonic named after A.S. Arensky.
Traditionally, star guests, festival participants and cinematographers walked the red carpet. Among them are Artyom Mikhalkov, Maxim Korolev, Anna Mikhalkova, Mikhail Porechenkov, Mikhail Troinik, Alexey Mizgirev, Sabina Yeremeyeva, Daniil Vorobyov, Alexandra Revenko, Sergey Mokritsky, Yulia Khlynina, Vladislav Tsenev, Anna Banshchikova, Anna Nevskaya, Evgenia Gromova, Maria Lapshina, Sergey Volkov, Elena Panova, Ekaterina Filippova, Danil Steklov, Elena Nikolaeva, Stasia Tolstaya, Alexey Lukin, Polina Denisova and others.
The ceremony was opened by actor Mikhail Troinik. The 130th anniversary of cinema and the birthday of Dziga Vertov became a cross-cutting theme of the evening. The musical accompaniment was provided by Iskandeor Khannanov and the Ensemble chamber group.
The visual concept of the ceremony and the festival as a whole was developed by the contemporary artist Gleb Solntsev. The design combines technology and artistic meanings: the "flame of inspiration" has become a symbol of the creative energy of young cinematographers. Hands remained the central image — a sign of support and co-creation. The key colors are orange and red, symbolizing fire, movement and creation.
The general producers of the festival, Artyom Mikhalkov and Maxim Korolev, spectacularly appeared on stage on red scooters, symbolically emphasizing the idea of a "New Movement."
"We have been preparing for the second New Movement festival for a long time, and today we are finally opening it here in Veliky Novgorod. Our festival has a soul — it's the city, the audience, the participants, the jury. Thanks to the Ministry of Culture, the government of the Novgorod region and everyone who helps young cinema develop. This is really important," said Artem Mikhalkov.
"There is excitement, but it is pleasant. As cinematographers, we have a second film syndrome, and we have a second festival. But everything will work out: we have a strong program, a great team, and an excellent program director, Vadim Rutkovsky. Thanks to everyone who makes this possible," Maxim Korolev added.
Alexander Dronov, Acting Governor of the Novgorod Region, joined the producers.: "For the second time, the Novgorod Region is becoming the capital of young Russian cinema, for which I am sincerely grateful to the organizers, directors and actors of the New Movement. It is very important that the festival has become a family event. New programs and films for children have appeared, opening up to them the magical world of cinematography. For me, the most important feature of this year's educational program, which is designed for all generations, is an investment in the future, in our creative youth. I am sure that participating in the festival will inspire them to come up with bold ideas. After all, it is the younger generation that is the engine of progress, the very new movement that we are creating together."
Alexander Dronov, Maxim Korolev and Artem Mikhalkov have officially declared the festival open.
After that, according to the established tradition, the prize "The best young producer in Russia" was awarded.
This prize was established by the organizing committee of the festival to celebrate the contribution of young producers to the future of our cinema. The winner of the prize was producer Nikita Vladimirov, who made his professional debut 8 years ago with the painting "Frostbitten Carp". And last year, he successfully confirmed his devotion to the author's comedy and low temperatures with the paintings "Operation Cold" and "To the bathhouse!" "Thank you so much for this festival. This is a real cure for those who are looking for themselves in young cinema. Thank you to everyone who supports him," Nikita Vladimirov said from the stage.
The surprise of the ceremony was the vivid presentation of the contest's directors, who were invited to briefly tell about themselves: who their idol in directing is, a source of inspiration, their favorite movie, book, color and art object, and most importantly, what the "new art movement" means to them. These mini-business cards allowed the audience to look at the participants not only as authors, but also as bright, original personalities.
This year, eight films are participating in the main competition program: "Sometimes We are Travelers" (directed by Daniil Prasolov), "Fixed Stars" (directed by Daniil Prasolov). Ivan Kurbakov), "My boyfriend, the mannequin" (directed by Dmitry Nikolenko), "Northern Station" (directed by Sergey Ovechko), "In the Mountains. She" (dir. Said Tolgurov), "Field of Miracles" (dir. Anna Sichinskaya), "The Habit of sniffing fingers" (dir. Vyacheslav Ivanov), "Perfect Silence" (dir. Slava Fedorov). The jury of the festival was headed by director Alexey Mizgirev. It consists of producer Sabina Yeremeyeva, cameraman Daniil Fomichev, actor Daniil Vorobyov and actress Alexandra Revenko. Following the results of the festival, the following awards will be awarded: the main prize, the prize for the best director, the prize for the best actor, the prize for the best actress, the prize for the best visual solution.
The main prize of the festival is accompanied by a prize of the organizing committee in the amount of 1,000,000 rubles.
In addition, a special prize was awarded by the film company Atmosphere Cinema. One of the films in the competition program will get a chance to be widely distributed — the Atmosphere Cinema company will choose the picture that, in its opinion, has the greatest potential for a theatrical release. The ceremony ended with a musical performance by Maria Lapshina with the song "You're leaving like a Train" by Mikael Tariverdiev, dedicated to young actors.
The festival opened with the sensual drama "Family Happiness" by Stacy Tolstoy. This is a story about the complex and fragile world of marital relations. The film was presented by Stasia Tolstaya and the film's team — actors Vladislav Tsenev, Misha Gurai and Evgenia Leonova, cinematographer Timofey Lobov, production designer Ksenia Belyaeva, producer Natalia Klibanova and Evgenia Gromova, who acted as an assistant director in this film, and others.
The festival will last until June 2. This year, the festival will have an extensive business program with a focus on supporting young filmmakers. For the first time, it will host the Auteur Film Market, where young directors and producers will present their projects to the professional community: distributors, platforms, festival selectors and potential partners.
There will also be a large educational program at the festival, designed not only for young filmmakers, but also for children and teenagers. Her supervisor is the actress Yulia Khlynina.
