Mysterious Lighthouse: Banksy unveils new work in an Unknown location

The British street artist, known under the pseudonym Banksy, presented a new work. He painted graffiti with a glowing lighthouse and a mysterious inscription. At the same time, the artist traditionally kept the exact location of the image a secret, publishing only his photo on a social network. However, fans have already put forward a version where the graffiti artist's fresh masterpiece may be located. What Banksy's new work looks like and where it can presumably be found, Izvestia reports.
What does Banksy's new job look like?
On May 29, street art artist Banksy posted photos of his new work. The graffiti is made in the minimalistic style characteristic of the creator. The footage shows a beige wall with a stencil pattern depicting a lighthouse emitting bright light.
A special feature of the work is the shadow of a nearby pillar, painted on the sidewalk and extending onto the wall. It creates the illusion that the lighthouse is a reflection of the urban element. There is also an inscription on top of the lighthouse: I want to be what you saw in me. "I want to be what you see in me"). Users of the social network found out that these words repeat a line from the song Softly by the American country band Lonestar.
The exact location of the graffiti remains unknown. Fans of the British artist believe that the work is located in the French city of Marseille, in the area of Le Panier.
In December 2024, the artist also published the mural "Madonna and Child", an image of a woman with pierced breasts and a baby in her arms, which many associated with the suffering of civilians in the conflict zone in the Middle East. This work was the last public appearance of the artist before the lighthouse graffiti.
The most famous works of Banksy
Banksy is one of the most famous and mysterious street artists of our time. His work appears suddenly and instantly becomes the subject of discussion around the world. Among the most famous graffiti:
— "The Girl with the Balloon" (2002) is a symbol of hope and loss. In 2018, the painting was partially destroyed during the Sotheby's auction. Immediately after the painting was sold for more than a million pounds, the shredder built into the frame activated and partially destroyed the canvas, cutting it into strips;
— "Flower Thrower" (2003) — an image of a masked protester throwing a bouquet of flowers instead of a Molotov cocktail. This work has become a symbol of peaceful defense of their rights;
— "Follow your Dreams — Cancelled" (2010) is a sarcastic graffiti in Boston with an inscription where the word "cancelled" is added on top of the inspirational phrase.
These works combine social criticism, irony and artistic expression, making Banksy one of the most influential voices of modern street art.
