At the initiative of Moscow, the national video surveillance standard for solving urban problems has been approved, said the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin.

The new standard establishes a mechanism for automatically recording comments. It structures the experience of Moscow, where the video surveillance system has been used for more than 10 years, the mayor of Moscow emphasized in his Telegram channel.

"The implementation of the standard will increase the effectiveness of monitoring across the country. But the main result is even more clean and well—maintained streets, buildings and roads built according to the rules," Sobyanin believes.

He noted that video surveillance helps to monitor the performance of work in Moscow without the need for specialists to personally travel to the site. This significantly reduces the time needed to solve problems: city services learn about comments faster and promptly eliminate them.

In particular, the standard sets out uniform technical requirements for cameras and their placement, weather resistance and security. The document also defines how it is necessary to collect data on the time and coordinates of identified comments so that they are as objective as possible.

The approval of the standard will help resolve disputes between city services and contractors, Sobyanin is sure.
