The conclusions that the Swedish authorities made at the end of the investigation into the Nord Stream and Nord Stream–2 pipeline explosions indicate that they have no desire to identify the real culprits of the incident. This was announced on May 30 by Russian Ambassador to Stockholm Sergey Belyaev.

"The results of the work of the Swedish investigators are disappointing and only indicate their unwillingness to identify the true culprits. We are convinced that an end to this case can be put only when both the perpetrators of the terrorist attacks and those who stood behind them are punished," the diplomat told RIA Novosti.

Belyaev noted that Moscow has repeatedly stated to Stockholm that it is necessary to conduct an open and credible investigation of sabotage. She also made requests for legal assistance and a proposal to form a joint group of investigators.

"Our initiatives have been stubbornly ignored or rejected, and under the guise of some kind of "threat to national security." At the same time, the media actively speculated about a certain pro—Ukrainian subversive group," the ambassador added.

On May 26, Sarah Wagenknecht, chairman of the German Sarah Wagenknecht Union Party, supported the idea of Michael Kretschmer, Prime Minister of Saxony, to resume the operation of Nord Streams. She stressed that Germany needs inexpensive energy to overcome the economic crisis and prevent the country's deindustrialization.

Prior to that, on May 6, US President Donald Trump said that he knew the names of those involved in the explosion of the Nord Streams pipelines, so Washington did not need to conduct its own investigation into the incident.

Leaks on the Nord Stream and Nord Stream–2 gas pipelines were discovered in September 2022. Two powerful underwater explosions were registered on the pipelines. Traces of explosives were found at the accident site. Russia is seeking an international investigation into the attacks. In February 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson that the CIA was responsible for the bombings.
