More than 54 thousand residents of the Kursk region have been recognized as victims after the crimes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). This was announced on May 30 by Alexander Bastrykin, Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.

"A report has been presented on the investigation of crimes committed by Ukrainian servicemen in the Kursk region. The investigators recognized and interrogated more than 54 thousand residents of the region as victims," he was quoted as saying in the Telegram channel of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

Bastrykin stressed that work is also underway to identify and criminalize foreign citizens who participate in military clashes on the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for remuneration.

In particular, the damage caused by the actions of the Ukrainian militants is being established. It is specified that in 2025 it was possible to carry out more than 5.5 thousand comprehensive construction and technical assessment examinations.

In addition, Bastrykin instructed to collect materials on the uniqueness of the investigative practice of investigating crimes of the Kiev regime in order to further generalize and use in scientific research.

On May 21, Bastrykin reported that the Russian Investigative Committee had recorded attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on 43 Russian regions. According to him, about 8,000 cases of shelling of the country's border and rear territories were recorded in total.
