Mishustin reported on the development of support measures for the Russian coal industry

The authorities have developed support measures for the Russian coal industry following a visit by government members to the Kemerovo Region. They will be presented to Russian President Vladimir Putin after their consideration by the Cabinet. This was announced on May 30 by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

"On behalf of the president, the government has involved a number of industry support measures. In particular, an agreement was signed between Russian Railways and the Kemerovo Region on the guaranteed export of significant volumes of coal to the east," the prime minister said at a meeting on the situation in the coal industry.

According to the prime minister, new technologies are currently being introduced, which significantly increases production efficiency and productivity. He noted that during the Soviet period, about 1.5 million people worked in the industry, while last year their number was just over 150,000.

As for the new support measures, Mishustin added, they are aimed at helping promising organizations experiencing temporary difficulties. The Head of Government expressed hope that the proposed actions would help to balance the situation in the coal industry and contribute to its further development.

On May 13, Putin agreed on an anti-crisis program for the coal industry, formed by the government. In order to avoid negative social and man-made consequences of the bankruptcy of coal enterprises, the authorities intend to create a "special tool" for the restructuring, rehabilitation and rehabilitation of the coal industry on the basis of VEB.RF. It is also planned to establish a special procedure for financial rehabilitation or bankruptcy of coal industry organizations.
