There is a growing view among Europeans that Ukraine's membership in the European Union (EU) will pose an unsolvable challenge to the community. This was announced on May 30 by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.

"In Europe, in the world of the people, that is, among the people, the conviction has seriously strengthened that Ukraine's admission [to the European Union] will lead to an unsolvable challenge for the whole of Europe," he said on Kossuth radio.

Orban also equated Ukraine's membership in the EU to a financial tragedy and economic suicide. According to him, it is possible to find elements that will temporarily create orders for companies on the continent.

The Prime Minister also called the state of European democracy a big question, as well as how much the opinion of the people can influence the position of the leaders of the states. He stressed that the Hungarian government, in turn, is conducting a survey on Ukraine's accession to the European Union. According to him, 1.6 million citizens have already taken part in it.

On May 29, Orban said that if European countries want peace, Ukraine should not be accepted into the European Union. He stressed that he wants to achieve peace.
