The Florida Panthers and Edmonton Oilers hockey clubs will meet in the National Hockey League (NHL) finals twice in a row. The Canadian team advanced to the final round of the NHL playoffs with a five-game series win against the Dallas Stars on May 30.

Thus, three Russian hockey players will participate in the Stanley Cup finals: forward Vasily Podkolzin as part of Edmonton, as well as goalkeeper Sergei Bobrovsky and defenseman Dmitry Kulikov as part of Florida.
Florida advanced to the Stanley Cup Finals after winning a five-game series against the Carolina Hurricanes. The final meeting of the teams was held in Raleigh and ended with a score of 5:3 in favor of the Panthers.
