The full text of the plan of the US President's special envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, regarding the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, contains 13 points and assumes a truce for a period of 60 days. The full text of the document was published by the Times of Israel newspaper on May 30.
It is specified that US President Donald Trump will act as a guarantor of compliance with the regime on the part of Israel. According to the terms, on the first and seventh days of the truce, Hamas will hand over to Israel 10 living hostages and the bodies of 18 dead. In response, Israel will release 125 Palestinians sentenced to life in prison, 1,111 Gazans detained after October 7, 2023, and hand over 180 bodies of the dead.
On the tenth day, Hamas and Israel will exchange information about hostages and Palestinian prisoners and detainees, the remaining ones will be released upon reaching a permanent ceasefire agreement. If it is not concluded within 60 days, the temporary truce may be extended.
The plan also includes the redeployment of the Israeli army inside the strip and the organization of humanitarian aid supplies under the supervision of the United Nations (UN) and the International Committee of the Red Cross. The United States, Egypt and Qatar should become guarantors of compliance with the agreement.
On May 28, it became known that Hamas had agreed to Whitkoff's proposal for the Gaza Strip. It was clarified that the US initiative also implies the creation of a professional committee that will take over the management of Gaza immediately after the announcement of the agreement. The next day, Israel signed the Whitkoff and Trump cease-fire proposal in Gaza.
