As a result of the terrorist attack on the Bicentenario oil pipeline in the Colombian department of Arauca, oil got into the river. This was announced on Thursday, May 29, on the Ultima Hora Caracol (UHC) portal.

"The identity of those responsible for violating the tightness of the pipeline is still unknown. While the relevant investigations are underway, the national army has secured the territory to ensure the access of technical personnel to eliminate the situation," the article says.

As a result of the emergency, the waters of the Karanal River were contaminated with oil, and residents of the village of Palmarito, a rural area of the municipality of Fortul, were advised not to approach the sector. The water area of the river was covered with oil paint for several kilometers, the portal clarified.

The attack on the Bicentenario oil pipeline became known earlier in the day. Cenit, the company that owns the pipeline, did not specify exactly when the attack took place, but added that it was cooperating with emergency authorities and the army to clear the area.
