A worker was crushed by an excavator at a construction site in Primorsky Krai.

An excavator driver unintentionally knocked down a worker during construction work. This was announced on May 30 by the Primorsky Krai Prosecutor's Office in its Telegram channel.

"During the work at the 500 kV Varyag substation in the village of Novonezhino, Shkotovsky municipal District, the contractor's driver, driving an excavator, not being convinced of the safety of the maneuver, ran over an employee," the report said.

The worker died during hospitalization.

The prosecutor's office opened a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 216 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of safety rules during construction work, resulting in the death of a person by negligence"). The excavator driver faces up to five years in prison.

"In addition, the supervisory authority will check how the contractor and the customer comply with the requirements of labor protection legislation," the prosecutor's office noted.
