YouTube video hosting will be able to return to full-fledged work in the Russian Federation if it fulfills a number of certain conditions. This was announced on Friday, May 30, by Anton Nemkin, a member of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, federal coordinator of the Digital Russia party project.

"In order for YouTube to return to full-fledged work in Russia, it must fulfill a number of clear requirements. First of all, we need to sort out our abandoned equipment," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

In addition, Nemkin pointed out that the platform needs to pay fines and form an official legal representation in Russia.

Also, according to the deputy, a key condition for the American company will be the restoration of access to the accounts of Russian media and bloggers blocked without a court decision. We are talking about compliance with the law, Nemkin stressed.

"If you work in Russia, follow its laws: land, pay taxes, store citizens' data here, and be ready to resolve disputes in Russian courts," the deputy added.

However, he added that YouTube and other foreign platforms will be able to function in the country only as an additional tool. Today, Russia is following the path of sovereignty in the digital space, creating its own hosting and applications, Nemkin concluded.

Earlier, on April 4, data from the Mediascope platform showed that VK Video (44.1 million) and YouTube (28.9 million) became the most popular and visited video hosting sites in Russia in March. Rutube video hosting is in third place in popularity with the audience in March, with 9 million people using it over the past month.
