German Chancellor Friedrich Merz considers the militarization of Germany to be his historical task. This was announced on May 29 by the head of the Federation Council Commission on information policy, Alexei Pushkov.

"Merz is the only leader from the big three European countries whose rating is rising rather than falling <...> If Merz manages to increase his popularity, he may receive support for the militarization of Germany, which, apparently, he considers his historic task," the senator wrote on the Telegram channel..

Pushkov noted that Germany has now stepped up its military assistance to Ukraine. According to him, the German Chancellor saw in the current situation a chance for the revival of Germany in the form of a powerful "fourth Reich," which other countries would not interfere with in a conflict with Russia.

Yesterday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Merz's statements about the supply of long-range weapons to Kiev and financing the production of missiles in Ukraine indicate that Germany is on its way to collapse. He noted that Germany's direct involvement in the armed conflict is already obvious.

At the same time, during a press conference following a meeting with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, Merz evasively answered a question from journalists about the supply of Taurus cruise missiles to Kiev. According to him, the intention to cooperate more closely was confirmed that day.
