Fico pointed to the EU's tendency to nervousness

The European Union (EU), instead of fulfilling an honest peacemaking role, is prone to nervousness and aggressiveness. This was announced on May 29 by Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico.
"I have been involved in politics since 1991, and I do not remember that there has ever been so much nervousness and aggressiveness in the international community, from outbreaks of wars to trade wars and disrespectful attitudes in international politics. Instead of playing an honest peacemaking role and giving priority to diplomatic efforts, the European Union is equally susceptible to this nervousness and aggressiveness," he said.
According to him, any opinion that differs from the EU is suppressed. So, for example, if you say different words about the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, refuse to supply weapons to Kiev, and call the strategy of the European Commission (EC) related to the cessation of all energy supplies from Russia incorrect, then a reaction will immediately follow, he added.
Fico also said that Slovakia and Hungary recently received a message from the new and "particularly nervous" German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. In it, the politician wrote that if states do not obey and continue to adhere to their sovereign positions, then they will be punished.
It was about a common political opinion related to Ukraine and the duty to spread hatred against Russia. For example, Merc may suspend funding from EU funds and deprive states of the right to vote.
On May 28, Fico announced that the EC might make concessions on the issue of banning Russian energy resources. According to him, the cessation of supplies of nuclear fuel, uranium, oil, and gas from Russia poses a threat to EU countries.
