Russian President Vladimir Putin met with the widow of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in the Kremlin. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on May 29.

"Vladimir Putin received in the Kremlin Akie Abe, the widow of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who died in an assassination attempt, who is in Moscow," he said.

The assassination attempt on Shinzo Abe took place on July 8, 2022. Then he was giving a speech in the city of Nara as part of the election campaign, 41-year-old Tetsuya Yamagami shot at him.
