- The First All-Russian Book Festival "Igniting Children's Hearts" starts in Russia

More than 70 events across the country from Moscow to the Far East will be held as part of a large-scale initiative, offering children vivid and interesting formats for exploring literature. The festival will unite dozens of libraries and families in one mission: to make reading a meaningful part of childhood again, strengthen the bond between generations and lay down traditional values through a living literary word.
The festival is organized by the publishing house "Eksmodetstvo", which has developed a series of fascinating scenarios of thematic children's games aimed at the comprehensive development of interest in reading among young children. The scenarios cover a wide range of literary trends and allow libraries, book clubs and shops, as well as other public spaces to implement new formats of cultural activity.
"We strive to integrate a book into a child's familiar space, whether it's a library, a bookstore, or a leisure center. It's important not just to talk about reading, but to create lively formats that engage, inspire, and shape taste. The festival is a step towards an active and accessible literary environment for every family. In addition, today we are witnessing a steady revival of cultural demand for high-quality children's literature, which is confirmed by data from the book industry. Thus, according to the data of the Chitai-Gorod bookstore chain for May 2024 - May 2025, Olga and Natalia Artemov, authors of books included in the festival series, entered the TOP 20 writers in terms of the number of copies sold. This once again underlines that children are ready to read. It is only important for us to create the right, inspiring conditions for a child to meet with a book," said Evgeny Kapyev, General Director of Eksmo Publishing House.
The festival is aimed at promoting the culture of children's reading as an important tool for education, socialization and the formation of intergenerational continuity. At a press conference dedicated to the launch of the Kindling Children's Hearts book festival, the speakers emphasized the importance of interactive formats that can interest young readers.
The festival program is based not only on children's classics, but also on modern book series that carry the ideas of traditional values, contributing to the moral education and cultural development of the younger generation. Special attention is paid to the popularization of Russian literature: the series "Great People of a great country", written by sought-after Russian authors and Also in the program of the series created by famous children's writers Yuri Druzhkov and Valentin Postnikov, tells about the adventures of "Pencil and Samodelkin".
"When parents read to their children, the book becomes part of the family tradition, and a special bond arises between the generations. I always emphasize that you need to read not only aloud, but also together. It's amazing how often adults at my meetings remember reading "Pencil and Samodelkin" as a child — and now they are reading it to their children. This is the real mission of literature: to unite," said writer Valentin Postnikov.
The selection of literature presented at the festival fully corresponds to the priorities of the state policy aimed at strengthening the institution of the family, supporting traditional values and popularizing reading as a key element of cultural and educational development.
The Kindling Children's Hearts Festival will last until the end of 2025 and will become a large-scale platform for creative and educational interaction between children, parents, libraries and book communities across the country.
