US President Donald Trump has not lost hope that he will be able to establish economic cooperation with Moscow. This was reported by Reuters on May 29, citing White House officials.

"Trump still hopes to develop an economic partnership with Russia," the article says.

According to the agency, some Republicans in the US Congress and White House advisers are calling on Trump to adopt new anti-Russian sanctions. The American leader himself has long considered them "unnecessary and often ineffective."

On May 26, The Wall Journal Street wrote that Trump is considering the possibility of imposing sanctions against Russia due to the deterioration of relations with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The restrictions probably won't include new banking sanctions, but other pressure options are being discussed to force him to make concessions at the negotiating table, including a 30-day cease-fire.
