Livestock deaths in Belarus have reached a historic high, and those responsible should be punished accordingly. This was stated by Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko at a meeting with the leadership of the Council of Ministers on May 29.

According to him, quoted by the BelTA news agency, the death of livestock destroys the entire livestock industry in the country. In addition, Lukashenko stressed that in some cases veterinarians are involved in concealing the death.

"What have we noticed? District veterinarians, instead of treating, preventing, and so on, discuss with doctors in farms how to hide this case. It gets to the point of horror," he said.

The Belarusian leader stressed that criminal responsibility should be borne for the relevant violations. Lukashenko also instructed the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Agriculture to report on measures to reduce mortality.

"Therefore, there will be a very serious and principled conversation here, because if we had saved all the livestock, we would have had a decent result," the politician concluded.

A day earlier, Lukashenko said that the country needs to grow enough potatoes for Belarus and Russia. The politician added that in this way the country will help "Russian brothers."
