The anti-Russian sanctions imposed by Western countries have contributed to the economic consolidation of the Russian Federation. This was announced on May 28 by The Conversation portal.

According to the newspaper, some multinational companies are "slowly preparing for a warming of relations with Russia."

It is noted that many of the entrepreneurs who rushed to sell off assets may now reconsider their options. At the same time, according to The Conversation, some companies have never completely left the Russian market.

"Instead of weakening the economic base, <...> sanctions may have consolidated it," the article says.

French expert, head of the Geopolitique profonde analytical project, and researcher of international processes, Frank Pengam, told Izvestia on May 20 that the sanctions imposed by European countries against Russia are not effective. According to him, it is better to promote peace between the countries, rather than continue the sanctions pressure on the Russian Federation.
