A possible new package of Washington's sanctions against Moscow is ready, officials in the White House are waiting for a decision by US President Donald Trump, the Reuters news agency reported on May 29.

"US officials have prepared new economic sanctions against Russia, including measures in the banking and energy sectors. They say that the sanctions package is ready to be implemented based on Trump's decree," the media writes.

Moreover, some advisers to the American leader believe that he should not interfere with Senator Lindsey Graham's bill (listed in the Russian Federation as a terrorist and extremist), according to which Washington can impose import duties of 500% on imported US goods from countries that buy oil, petroleum products, natural gas and uranium from Russia.

"Some advisers believe that this bill may be useful because it allows significant sanctions to take effect, while Trump may, in fact, say that the decision on sanctions was beyond his control," Reuters pointed out.

The Politico newspaper reported on May 27 that Trump may decide this week whether Washington will strengthen restrictions against Moscow. The publication noted that the "cautious call" for the introduction of anti-Russian sanctions comes from pro-Ukrainian officials in the US government.
