Russian cosmonauts called Katy Perry's flight on the New Shepard spacecraft a PR campaign

The Russian cosmonauts did not recognize the space flight of the New Shepard spacecraft with a female crew, which included singer Katy Perry, they called it a PR campaign. On May 29, the cosmonauts answered a question to journalists about their attitude to such commercial flights.

"Blue Origin is a commercial company, and it was a suborbital flight, not a space flight. Bezos launches (people. — Ed.) for his own money, and this is just a PR campaign. He can do whatever he wants for his money," Russian cosmonaut Ivan Wagner said during a solemn meeting of the crews of the 71st and 72nd long—term expeditions to the International Space Station (ISS), RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

He noted that the crew of the Russian Federation operates in accordance with the objectives of the state program. In turn, cosmonaut Alexander Grebenkin said that the Russian manned space program is connected with the scientific program. He added that tourists also fly into space, but this is not a place for walks or similar actions.
