A previously convicted Chita resident stole a smartphone from a 12-year-old girl. She lost the gadget in a minibus, and an attacker took possession of it, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Trans-Baikal Territory reported on Thursday, May 29.

The teenager's mother contacted the police department. According to her, the child forgot his phone on public transport and remembered about it later. The cost of the gadget is estimated at 7 thousand rubles, writes ChitaMedia news agency.

Law enforcement officers identified the suspect. It turned out to be a 33-year-old passenger of a minibus who was traveling next to a minor. Noticing that she dropped her smartphone, he stole it. When the repeat offender saw that the girl was looking for a phone, he immediately got off at the bus stop. Next, he threw away the SIM card and decided to use the gadget himself.

A criminal case was opened against the kidnapper under Part 2 of Article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Theft". He was given a preventive measure in the form of a written undertaking not to leave and proper behavior. The phone was returned to its owner.
