In the city of Khartoum in Sudan, 70 people died of cholera in two days. Al Arabiya writes about this on May 29, citing data from the Ministry of Health.

"In Khartoum, 942 new cases and 25 deaths were registered in two days (on Wednesday), and the day before — 1,177 cases and 45 deaths," the material says.

According to the country's Ministry of Health, 172 people died from the disease in the week before May 27, 90% of whom were in Khartoum State.

The spike in infections came weeks after drone strikes blamed on the paramilitary Rapid Reaction Force (RSF) disrupted water and electricity supplies throughout the capital.

As a result of the fighting, more than 90% of hospitals in conflict zones are out of service. The healthcare system is under severe pressure, and deteriorating environmental conditions are contributing to an increase in the number of cases of the disease, the article emphasizes.

Radio Okapi reported on April 28 that the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) was facing an outbreak of cholera. It was clarified that over the past week, more than 1.1 thousand cases of this disease have been registered, including 22 deaths. The death rate from this epidemic currently stands at 1.8%, as indicated by Minister of Health Roger Kamba.
