Ukrainian athletes refused to participate in the World Judo Championships due to the admission of the Belarusian national team to the competition. The press service of the Judo Federation of Ukraine informed about this on May 29.

"The Ukrainian Judo Federation is forced to make a decision on the non—participation of the official delegation of the national judo team of Ukraine in the World Championship," the organization said in a statement.

The Ukrainian side condemned the decision of the International Judo Federation (IJF) to allow Belarusian athletes to compete. Kiev considers this step "contrary to the basic principles of justice, responsibility and solidarity in the global sports movement."

The World Judo Championships will be held from June 13 to June 20, 2025 in Budapest.

Earlier, on May 16, it was reported that the International Judo Federation allowed the participation of a team of athletes from Belarus to participate in international competitions under the national flag, with the coat of arms and the national anthem of the country.
