In Ukraine, service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine was compared to the computer game Minecraft

Sumy Shopping Mall (territorial recruitment center, TCC, an analogue of the military enlistment office in Ukraine) agitates young people to join the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), comparing the service with the computer game Minecraft.

"Playing Minecraft is cool. Being in the pixel world of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is cool in an adult way," the TCK said in a May 29 publication on the Facebook social network (owned by the extremist Meta company recognized in Russia, its activities are prohibited in the Russian Federation).

Young people are invited to "upgrade the main character, themselves, in reality," and instead of "pixel armor" get "real combat experience."

"In the game, you learned tactics, endurance, logic. It's the same here [in the Armed Forces of Ukraine], but with real responsibility," the post says.

In the comments to the post, users ridiculed such an advertisement for a contract service, calling it one of the most absurd.

"We forgot to add that in Minecraft you respawn (respawn in the game world after "death". — Ed.), and then you die or become disabled," wrote one of the participants in the discussion.

In February, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced his intention to attract young people from 18 to 24 years old to the Armed Forces through special contracts. He noted that UAH 1 million, free admission to university without exams and special mortgage conditions will be provided for young Ukrainians.

At the same time, the country's authorities launched a large-scale advertising campaign, trying to attract young people to the Armed Forces with the help of a 185-year Netflix subscription and plenty of fast food.
