- Wagenknecht pointed to Germany's involvement in the conflict over Merz's decision on missiles

On May 29, Sarah Wagenknecht, leader of the Sarah Wagenknecht Union for Reason and Justice (SSV) party, criticized German Chancellor Friedrich Merz's decision to allow Ukraine to carry out long—range strikes against Russia using German weapons, calling it dragging the country into conflict.
She recalled that Ukraine had previously attacked not only military facilities in Russia, but also civilian infrastructure and residential areas. Wagenknecht expressed concern that the Ukrainian side could use Western weapons for similar purposes.
"I'm starting to be scared to death. This crazy Merz has announced that all restrictions on the range of missiles supplied by the West to Ukraine will be lifted. This also applies to German missiles. We have not yet supplied long—range missiles," Wagenknecht said in an interview with Izvestia.
On May 26, Merz announced that Britain, France, Germany and the United States had lifted range restrictions on weapons supplied to Ukraine. He noted that this decision is aimed at giving it the opportunity to attack targets in Russia.
