Israel will create more than 20 new settlements in the West Bank

The Israeli authorities are going to establish 22 new settlements in the West Bank of the Jordan River. This was reported on May 29 in the Financial Times newspaper.
"The formation of 22 settlements throughout the West Bank, the largest expansion in recent years, was announced on Thursday by Defense Minister Yisrael Katz and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich," the material says.
According to Katz, in this way the authorities want to "prevent the creation of a Palestinian state," which could become a threat to Israel.
According to the publication, this move by the Israeli government is likely to increase the condemnation of the Jewish state by the international community.
"Most of the international community considers Israeli settlements illegal, and the West Bank, East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip are considered as the basis of a future Palestinian state," the newspaper writes.
The publication noted that some Western countries are now considering the possibility of recognizing a Palestinian state and are opposed to the construction of new settlements by Israel in the West Bank.
On May 19, Britain, France and Canada published a joint letter condemning the Israeli Government's actions in the Gaza Strip. The next day, Britain froze negotiations on a new free trade agreement with Israel.
On May 28, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected claims that the residents of the Gaza Strip are suffering from hunger and that Israel is allegedly applying a policy of deliberate starvation.
