The court sentenced a resident of Crimea to 20 years in a penal colony in a case of treason.

The Supreme Court of the Republic of Crimea has sentenced a resident of Dzhankoy to 20 years in prison in a case of high treason. This was reported on May 29 in the press service of the republican prosecutor's office.

They noted that the 59-year-old man established contact with a representative of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) in 2022. On the instructions of the curators, the defendant collected information about the location of the warehouses of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and the Rosgvardiya in Dzhankoy and Krasnoperekopsky district.

"The convict, using one of the messengers, sent screenshots of geolocations with the allocation of sections of warehouse locations to representatives of the SBU. The illegal activities of the man were stopped by employees of the Russian FSB directorate for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol," the Telegram channel of the Prosecutor's office of the republic says.

It is specified that the man was sentenced to 20 years in prison to serve his sentence in a high-security penal colony with further restriction of freedom for one year and ten months. In addition, he must pay a fine of 300 thousand rubles.

On May 27, it was reported that the court of the Luhansk People's Republic (LNR) sentenced a Russian citizen to 17 years in a penal colony for treason. According to the regional prosecutor's office, the defendant voluntarily collected information about the locations of Russian army units and transmitted the data to the Ukrainian special services via messenger.
