A long-term ceasefire in Ukraine is a realistic solution within the framework of a peaceful settlement. This was announced on May 28 by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.

"A long-term ceasefire seems to be a more realistic solution. In order to reach an agreement on an ongoing basis, we have some formulas, we are working on them with the parties," the Milliyet newspaper quoted Fidan as saying.

The minister also stressed that Turkey is a country that can travel first to Russia and then to Ukraine in one week, calling this a very important indicator of respect for President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

"We are trying to use this opportunity to bring peace," Fidan concluded.

Earlier, on May 27, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted during a meeting with Fidan that Russia appreciates the opportunities provided by Turkey for direct negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. In addition, the Russian Foreign Minister also drew attention to the sustainability of trade and investment cooperation between Russia and Turkey.
