Fraudsters have begun hacking Russian accounts in taxi ordering services. This was announced on May 29 by the Department for the organization of the fight against the illegal use of information and communication technologies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

According to the agency, the attackers gain access to the driver's account in a taxi or delivery service, deceiving the victim to obtain an authorization code. A compromised account is used to place fictitious orders that are executed from another account. Money for non-existent trips is debited from the passenger's bank card and credited to the fraudsters' accounts.

"The main advice that can protect you from such schemes is not to provide SMS codes. Never to anyone, even if it's a taxi driver who accepted your application," the department's Telegram channel says.

On the same day, it was reported that experts had identified the most common tricks of intruders. Among such schemes are fake online jobs. Scammers offer young people easy earnings online, from paid surveys to participating in marketing experiments and renting accounts from messengers. As a condition for starting work, they often require you to make an advance payment or provide personal information, which eventually leads to a loss of money.
