Patrushev assessed the progress of the Baltic Fleet exercises in the Kaliningrad region

Nikolai Patrushev, Assistant to the President of Russia and Chairman of the Maritime Board, visited the Baltic Fleet naval base in the Kaliningrad Region. This was announced on May 29 by the press service of the fleet.

During his working trip, he got acquainted with the naval personnel of the fleet and assessed the implementation of military training plans. Commander of the Baltic Fleet Sergey Lipilin reported to Patrushev on measures to maintain combat readiness at a level that ensures safety from sea and ocean directions.

Special attention was paid to the analysis of planned exercises, during which actions are being worked out to protect Russia's national interests in the Baltic region.

Patrushev was accompanied by the Presidential envoy to the Northwestern Federal District, Alexander Gutsan, the Governor of the Kaliningrad Region, Alexei Besprozvannykh, and the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, Vladimir Vorobyov.

On May 27, it was reported that the Russian Baltic Fleet had begun a planned exercise in the Baltic Sea. More than 20 warships, about 3,000 military personnel, up to 25 aircraft and helicopters, as well as about 70 units of military and special equipment are taking part in the maneuvers.
