The Ministry of Transport will clarify in the traffic regulations the rules for passing special vehicles with flashing lights

The Ministry of Transport has published a draft amendment to the rules of the road (SDA), explaining the duties of drivers when approaching vehicles with special signals turned on. The amended document was published on May 28 on the portal of draft legal acts.

"When approaching a vehicle with a blue flashing light and a special sound signal, drivers are required to give way or clear the lane," the draft says.

The ministry explained that the current wording "give way" leaves too much room for interpretation and does not guarantee safety.

The changes also affect the order of movement next to cars that may contain high-ranking officials. Civilian drivers will be prohibited from interfering with such vehicles, and will also be required to give way to columns with beacons turned on, regardless of the presence of special coloring.

The Ministry of Transport noted that the new measures will increase the safety of state security facilities and allow for more efficient traffic management.
