Two people were killed in the crash of a patrol aircraft of the South Korean Navy on May 29. This is reported by the News1 portal.

The P-3 Orion plane crashed in the mountains in Namgu district of Pohang city. There were four people on board. At the moment, the security services have managed to find the bodies of two victims.

"Although all those on board are presumed dead, two bodies were found among the wreckage at about 14:41 (08:41 Moscow time) and 14:44 (08:44 Moscow time)," the media reported.

Shortly after, the Yonhap news agency reported the discovery of a third victim.

"Three bodies were found at the crash site of a patrol aircraft of the Pohang Navy," they said.

According to media reports, the South Korean public has long expressed concerns about the too frequent use of P-3C aircraft. They have been in the country since 1995, and there have been 16 such patrol aircraft in South Korea.

"Concerns about overexploitation persisted, as 16 aircraft patrolled the seas in three directions (the Yellow Sea, the Sea of Japan, and the waters south of the Korean Peninsula. — Ed.)," Yonhap pointed out.

Earlier, on May 29, the Yonhap news agency reported that a plane crashed on the east coast of South Korea. Eyewitnesses said they saw smoke coming out from under the mountainside. It was clarified that the aircraft belongs to the Republic's Naval Forces.
