Zakharova responded to Dodon's call to the police

The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, in an interview with Izvestia on Thursday, May 29, reacted to the summons of the former President of Moldova, leader of the Party of Socialists Igor Dodon to the police.
"The policemen did it," Zakharova said.
Earlier that day, the ex-president of Moldova shared in his Telegram channel that he had received an "invitation" to the police station. According to Dodon, they want to question him about the fact of wearing the St. George ribbon at the Victory March in Chisinau on May 9. He stressed that after the current head of state, Maia Sandu, came to power, the fine for wearing symbols ranges from 4.5 thousand to 9 thousand lei ($260-520).
"I have already said before and I repeat: to abandon the symbols of Victory only because Maia Sandu and PAS (the ruling Action and Solidarity party) want it. — Ed.), I'm not going to," Dodon wrote.
He stressed that the St. George ribbon does not relate to politics, but is a memory of the fallen heroes who fought for peace, and a symbol.
The former president shared that they had already tried to fine him for wearing the St. George ribbon in 2022, but he challenged the decision in court and won the case. He stressed that it would be the same in the context of the current situation.
On May 21, Natalia Parasca, the leader of the Moldovan opposition Vozrozhdenie party, was fined for wearing a St. George ribbon on Victory Day. According to her, the current government has once again "shown an anti-national nature" by punishing her for preserving historical memory. Paraska stressed that she proudly accepts this fine.
