Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said that during his visit to Moscow, he discussed with the Russian side the difficulties associated with financing the construction of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant. According to him, these problems are largely caused by anti-Russian sanctions. Milliyet writes about this on May 28.

"We also talked about how we can handle the financing of Akkuyu in different ways. There are some problems related to sanctions. After all, we are an exporting country of industrial products, we need energy resources," Fidan said.

According to the minister, affordable energy increases the competitiveness of the Turkish economy. Ensuring energy stability is a priority for Ankara, he stressed.

On May 27, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin had confirmed Russia's determination to promote joint projects with Turkey, despite attempts to hinder cooperation. The Russian Foreign minister said that at the meeting Putin and Fidan also discussed the Ukrainian crisis.
