American entrepreneur Elon Musk is leaving the post of chief adviser to US President Donald Trump. This was reported on May 28 by the Associated Press (AP), citing a White House official.

"Musk is leaving his post as chief adviser to President Donald Trump after leading efforts to reduce and overhaul the federal bureaucracy," the agency noted.

In this position, the American entrepreneur oversaw the work of the Department for Improving the efficiency of the American government (DOGE).

"Musk's role in working for Trump was always supposed to be temporary, and he recently made it clear that he would return to managing his businesses, such as electric car manufacturer Tesla and rocket company SpaceX," the agency concluded.

Earlier, on May 29, Musk announced that his term of office as a special civil servant was coming to an end. The billionaire thanked the US president for the opportunity to reduce wasteful government spending.
