- The Telegraph reported on the UK's intention to spend more than £1 billion on AI and hackers

The UK authorities will spend more than £1 billion on artificial intelligence (AI) systems and a team of hackers for military needs. This was reported on May 29 by The Telegraph newspaper, citing a statement by the Minister of Defense of the United Kingdom, John Healy.
"The British Defense Minister has announced that the British military will spend more than £1 billion on artificial intelligence and a team of hackers," the publication says.
In his statement, the minister stressed that currently "the keyboard has become a weapon of war." For this reason, he promised to give the armed forces more powers on the Internet "to target hostile states."
"The operations will be conducted by a new cyber and electromagnetic command, which will also oversee investments of £1 billion in upgraded guidance systems using artificial intelligence," the newspaper reports.
Healy also indicated that the new command unit will be included in the government's Strategic Defense Review (SDR), which will be published shortly. According to him, this decision "will set new standards in defense."
On May 22, U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth held a meeting at the Pentagon with billionaire SpaceX founder Elon Musk to discuss the use of AI in the military. The Pentagon plans to work with the heads of companies developing AI systems to ensure the readiness of the American armed forces "to the threats of the 21st century."
