The survey showed the main criterion for Russians when choosing doctors

The majority of Russians (62%) rely on the advice of relatives, acquaintances and colleagues when choosing a medical specialist, about half (47%) prefer a clinic with an ideal reputation, and every third respondent (37%) is guided by the recommendations of other doctors. At the same time, the overwhelming majority of respondents (94%) consider professionalism and competence to be the most important quality of a good doctor. This was confirmed on Thursday, May 29, by the results of a survey conducted by Renaissance Insurance Group (MOEX: RENI) and INVITRO medical company, which I reviewed.Газета.Ru ".

When choosing a doctor, Russians primarily take into account his professionalism and skill level — this criterion turned out to be important for 94% of respondents. An important role is also played by the friendliness and sensitivity of the specialist (78%), the ability to clearly explain the diagnosis (61%) and the experience of practical activity (51%). Less significant factors were the cost of admission (38%) and the speed of medical decision-making (17%).

According to the results of the study, 26% of patients insist on their right to participate in the choice of treatment methods. At the same time, 65% prefer that the doctor listens to their opinion, but in difficult cases they are ready to rely on their expert knowledge. Interestingly, the public activity of a specialist — blogging or media presence — is not a determining criterion for 63% of respondents, although 21% admit that they perceive such doctors as more competent.
