Owners of cars aged 10-14 spend more money on maintenance and repairs, car service stations told Izvestia.

The average check for car repairs and maintenance at the age of 10-14 years was 12.9 thousand rubles, according to data from the international network of Fit Service car services available to Izvestia. Car owners aged 6-9 years spend an average of 12.3 thousand rubles per visit to a service station. Car owners spend the least for up to three years.

This can be explained by the fact that it is by this age that cars usually reach mileage, which requires a large number of replacements of various parts, major repairs of units and assemblies, explained Tatiana Ovchinnikova, Director of Fit Service.

"The category of cars over 15 years old is very large, 20-year-old and 30-year-old cars fall here, so the average receipt for them is the most average. For example, our network services several cars that are over 60 years old, and the average receipts for them are small," she explained.

When a car reaches the age of 12-15 years, the wear of the main components and assemblies begins to require major repairs, added Alexander Korotkov, General Director of the specialized car sales site Migtorg.

"It is during this period that the owner can expect a peak in maintenance costs, including replacement of suspension elements, braking system, engine and transmission," he said.

Cars older than 15 years old, as a rule, either undergo restoration at significant cost, or are used with limited repairs, or are operated with malfunctions, the expert added.
