Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov held a telephone conversation with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan. This was announced by the Russian Foreign Ministry on its website on Wednesday, May 28.

"An exchange of views took place on the situation around the Ukrainian crisis," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

As indicated, Lavrov and Fidan discussed, among other things, initiatives for a political settlement of the conflict in Ukraine.

Prior to that, on May 26, Russian President Vladimir Putin received Fidan in Moscow. Lavrov and Turkish Ambassador to Russia Tanju Bilgic were also present at the meeting.

The next day, the head of the Turkish Foreign Ministry, answering a question from Izvestia, said that Russia was informing Turkey about attacks on the infrastructure of the Turkish Stream gas pipeline from Ukraine. According to Fidan, to date, no damage has been caused to the Turkish Stream.
