In Obninsk, a vandal damaged a monument to those who died in the Great Patriotic War

In the city of Obninsk, Kaluga region, a man damaged a memorial sign dedicated to those who died in the Great Patriotic War. This was announced on May 28 by the press service of the Investigative Committee (IC) for the region in the Telegram channel.

"According to preliminary data, on May 28, 2025, in the afternoon, a resident of Obninsk aggressively struck the memorial sign "They died for the Motherland" on Mira Street. An inspection of the monument revealed damage to the pedestal," the ministry said.

A criminal case has been opened under Part 2 of Article 243.4 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Damage to objects commemorating those who died in the Great Patriotic War"). Currently, investigators are establishing all the circumstances of the incident.

On May 5, in the city of Chernyakhovsk, Kaliningrad region, teenagers damaged an exhibition dedicated to the 80th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War and the Year of Defender of the Fatherland. A criminal case was opened into the incident under Part 2 of Article 213 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Hooliganism"). Earlier, on May 2, vandals damaged a monument to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War in the Kherson region.
