The United Nations (UN) welcomed any efforts to end the ceasefire in Ukraine. This was announced on May 28 by the chairman of the Secretary General of the organization, Stephane Dujarric.

"We welcome any efforts that will lead to an end to this conflict in accordance with international law, in accordance with the UN Charter, in accordance with all relevant UN resolutions," Dujarric said during a briefing for journalists, which was broadcast on the UN website.

He indicated that he had no information about the possible participation of representatives of an international organization in the meeting.

Earlier in the day, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced the second round of talks between Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul. Lavrov expressed hope that all interested parties in the success of the peace process would provide support for a new round of discussions.
